What this video covers

Transitioning To Lightweight Plugin-Based Live Sound. In 2023, the speaker realized their travel gear was becoming too heavy and cumbersome, specifically with a TC Electronics System 6000 reverb unit. They loved the sound but wanted to travel lighter, so they invested in a powerful MacBook Pro and the plugin version of that reverb. This led to a collection of plugins, but the workflow of running them on a laptop with external screens and an audio interface became overwhelming for many. Later that year, Foria Audio released the Transform Engine, a single box that hosts professional plugins from many manufacturers without needing a laptop or external screens, making it ideal for live sound reliability. This product is already used by top industry professionals like Hans Zimmer, and the speaker believes plugins are the future of live sound. They used this workflow to successfully prepare a live TV show in Rwanda in just one night, demonstrating the efficiency of professional tools.

Let me take you back to 2023. That year I realized the gear I was traveling with was just becoming like heavier and heavier, bulkier and bulkier, and I reached a point where I simply did not want to carry that much weight anymore when I traveled. So one of the things I always carried was a TC Electronics System 6000, a reverb system I loved, but it was a whole package. The controller, the brain that connects to it, and the unit that actually holds the actual effects. 3 pieces, heavy, cumbersome. But here's the thing, I did not want to give up that sound because the System 6000 reverb is Literally extraordinary. I learned this a long time ago. The better the quality of your reverb, the more you can lift a performance to a whole other level, especially on your lead vocals and also on your backing vocalists as well. When you create a beautiful space for those voices to live in, they stop fighting the mix, they sit, and everything just sounds right. So I had a problem. I wanted that sound without the weight. I found a solution. TC Electronics had released a plugin version of that exact reverb. So I invested in one of Apple's most powerful MacBook Pros, and I bought that plugin. Now, honestly, I overspent. I bought a whole computer to essentially run one plugin. But here's the maths. that made sense to me. The System 6000 hardware alone cost around $14,000. A powerful laptop and the plugin cost me far, far less than that, and it dropped my traveling weight dramatically. And once I had that setup, I did not stop. I started adding more plugins, testing different ones to solve specific problems until I had a whole collection from different manufacturers. But that kind of setup comes with a catch. A laptop running all these plugins plus external screens plus a dedicated audio interface like the RME to get sound in and out. For a lot of people, that whole workflow is overwhelming. It is a lot to understand. And then later, that same year in 2023, a company called Foria Audio released a product that solved exactly the problem I'd been facing before I built my own rig with— but it was just like one simple box. It is called the Transform Engine. The Transform Engine is a single road tough unit that hosts professional plugins from many different manufacturers all in one place, and it is built specifically for live sound. No laptop, no external screens, no separate interface. You connect it, you load your plugins, and you work. It is engineered for the one thing live sound cannot live without: reliability. And this is already being used at the very top of the industry. Hans Zimmer's live tour used 2 of the Transform engines, and his engineers also ran that TC Electronic reverb plugin, the one I bought my whole computer for. This is the exact sound I was chasing on one of the biggest tours in the world. These are world-class productions, and they chose Furia Audio to bring studio-quality plugins to the stage because right now, in hosting plugins for many manufacturers in one unit, Furia Audio is actually leading the pack right now. And that is why this matters for Africa. Plugins are the future of live sound. I believe that completely, and my own workflow is built around them. Let me give you an example. I remember getting ready for Trace Music Awards in Rwanda in October 2023. I only received my mixes the night before. And, uh, show day was live on TV, you know, for 3 hours. Afterwards, the music director asked me how I managed to basically get everything working in such a, in such a short space of time. And the real secret was my plugin workflow. It meant I could prepare the entire show before the mixer had even arrived. Once it did, All I had to do was pitch my work in and there it was, consistent results and a great show. And when you are ready to basically level up, start with a tool that was purpose-built to make it simple. Fourier Audio is ahead of the trend. And for us in Africa, that means we can do things right from the start. We do not have to catch up. We can start exactly where the best in the world already are right now. You are only considered a professional when you use professional tools. I'm Remember. Thanks for watching.
