Terms of use

Last updated 14 September 2026

soundengineer.africa is run by Remember Live Trading and Projects (Pty) Ltd, Johannesburg, South Africa. By using the site you agree to these terms. They are short because the site is simple. Read them with the privacy policy, which says what we keep about you.

What the site is

A free, curated library of video for sound engineers across Africa: recordings of talks, demonstrations and short clips about live sound, monitors, system tuning, gear, studio work and the working life. We choose what goes in. Watching is free and needs no account. We may add, change or remove videos at any time.

The videos

The videos and the site are ours or used with the permission of the people who made them. You may watch them on the site as often as you like. Do not copy, download, re-upload, sell or pass them off as your own. If you think something on the site infringes your rights, email hello@soundengineer.africa and we will look into it promptly.

Accounts

Accounts are for people aged 18 or over. By creating one you confirm that you are 18 or older. Anyone of that age may create an account by signing in with Google or with a link we email you. Today an account signs you in and out, carries a display name you choose on your account page, and lets you like, dislike and comment on videos; that name is public wherever it appears, so choose one you are happy to be known by. Comments must be about the video and civil: no abuse, spam, advertising or anything unlawful; we hold a new account's first comments until we approve one, we may hold, remove or turn off comments on any video, and we may hide a person's comments from the site. It exists so that, later, you can also save videos and submit recordings. Keep your Google account and your email account secure; whatever happens through them is treated as done by you. We may suspend or delete an account that is used to abuse the site, other people, or the services behind it, and we will say why if you ask.

Submissions are not open yet

You cannot submit recordings to the library yet. Separate submission terms already set out what you grant us and what you promise about material you send, and you will see them before you submit anything. Until then, nothing you send us by email is a submission, and please do not send recordings that are not yours to send.

No warranty

The site is provided as it is and as available, free of charge. We do our best to keep it up and accurate, but we do not promise that it will always work, that every video is correct, or that following what a video says will get you a particular result. Sound engineering involves loud things, heavy things and mains electricity. Use your judgement and follow the safety rules where you work.

Limits on our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using the site or being unable to use it, including loss of work, income or data. Nothing in these terms removes rights that the law gives you and does not let us take away.

Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. When we do, the date at the top changes and this page describes what changed. If a change matters to account holders, we will also show a notice on the site. Using the site after a change means you accept it.

Law

These terms are governed by the law of South Africa. Any dispute goes to the courts of South Africa, unless the law of the country you live in says otherwise.
