What this video covers

The Importance Of Reliable Connectors In Live Sound. In live sound, the quality of a system often depends on the reliability of connectors rather than the cables themselves. The speaker connector and power connector standards were invented by Neutrik, a company from Liechtenstein founded in 1975. These connectors are built to be rugged and survive heavy use, making them a reliable investment compared to cheap, finicky alternatives. Neutrik has produced over 2 billion connectors, powering hundreds of millions of live performances worldwide. The transcript argues that investing in professional connectors protects shows and builds a system you can trust.

In live sound, we work with a lot of cables and a lot of connections. XLRs, jack-to-jack, fiber network cables. Every show is held together by all of these connections. But here's something people forget. You can have the best cable in the world and still have your whole system fall apart because of one connector. One XLR that does not fit snugly, that does not hold the connection properly. One power connector. So cheap and finicky that it breaks at the worst possible moment. The cable gets all the attention, but the connector, that little piece on each end, is very often where things actually go wrong. That is why I want to talk to you about a brand called Neutrik. Neutrik is a company from Liechtenstein founded in 1975. They are not just one of the leading connector brands in, in, in live events. In many ways, they wrote the standard. The locking speaker connector everyone uses, the Speakon, Neutrik invented it. The power locking connector, the Powercon, Neutrik. The rugged network connections and the fiber connectors we run for digital audio, Neutrik do those too. And here's something I noticed early in my career, the more professional the production, the more likely you are to see metric connections somewhere in that system. Once you start looking, you see their name everywhere. And the reason is simple. These connectors are built to be rugged. They are made to survive the real world— heavy use, constant plugging and unplugging, tough outdoor conditions, show after show after show. Compare that to a cheap connector. It does not hold. It fails on you mid-show. And every time it fails, it costs you in time, in trust, and in money because you have to replace it all over again. A Neutrik connector is the opposite. You fit it once and it holds, it lasts, it is an actual investment. And this is not a small claim. Neutrik recently passed 2 billion connectors made, 2 billion, and they describe their products as powering hundreds of millions of live performances around the world. The connector standard that the whole industry now relies on largely came from this one company. When you plug into a stage anywhere in the world, chances are you are plugging into Neutrik. And that is why this matters for Africa. Too often we buy cheap connectors because it is what is in front of us, and then we pay for it again and again every time it breaks. That is money lost, and it is shows also put at risk. Neutrik offers a better way. When you invest in connectors that are rugged and built to last, you protect your cables, you protect your shows, and you, you protect your investment as well. You build a system you can trust one connection at a time, because in live sound, your whole show can come down to a single connector. Make sure it is the one you can rely on. You are only considered a professional when you use professional tools. Thank you for watching.
