What this video covers
Career Growth And Early Moves In Zimbabwe And South Africa. The speaker reflects on his career as a head sound engineer in Zimbabwe who outgrew the local industry and set a goal to work in advanced markets like America, Germany, China, and South Africa. Due to hyperinflation in Zimbabwe, he moved to South Africa first, which proved to be a pivotal decision that introduced him to a more advanced industry and the company Gearhouse.
Learning The L-Acoustics Philosophy And Technology. At Gearhouse, the speaker was introduced to L-Acoustics by a mentor who compared the brand to a Ferrari, emphasizing its responsiveness and efficiency. He contrasts this with the point-source systems he was used to in Zimbabwe, noting that L-Acoustics offers training, optimized presets, and simulation software that provide consistent results, a standard previously unavailable in Africa.
The History And Global Impact Of L-Acoustics. The transcript provides the history of L-Acoustics, founded in 1977 by Christian Hell after he was inspired by a Pink Floyd concert. The company revolutionized audio with the V-DOSC, the world's first modern line array system in 1992, and is now the most requested speaker brand on international technical riders due to decades of consistent performance.
The Professional Network And Final Advice. The speaker concludes by describing the professional benefits of choosing L-Acoustics, such as access to a global network of certified partners and the ability to cross-rent gear. He emphasizes that using professional tools is essential for being considered a professional and encourages the audience to make deliberate choices when investing in sound systems.

I want to take you back to a moment in my career. There came a point where I basically had outgrown the industry in Zimbabwe. I had worked on some of the biggest events in the country as head sound engineer, and my end goal even then was to be one of the best in the world. So I made a list of countries where, where I wanted to go to basically learn and also work. America, Germany, China, across Asia. South Africa was the last country on that list. But Zimbabwe was going through hyperinflation around 2009, and the savings plan did not go as planned. So, so basically South Africa is where I went first, and that turned out to be one of the best decisions I ever made because it put me inside a market in an industry far more advanced than the one I had basically come from. That decision led me to a company called Gearhouse, and that is where I first put my hands on L-Acoustics. I'll never forget what one of my mentors, the head of Gears audio department, said to me. He said, L-Acoustics is like a Ferrari, very responsive. Other engineers come in, put their foot on the gas, and they lose control because this car is not like the ones most engineers are used to. And he was not really talking about volume. He was talking about efficiency. I had grown up in an industry where line arrays literally did not exist in Zimbabwe yet. Everything was point source, stacks of boxes fighting each other, smearing the sound across the audience. So the first time I stood in front of a properly tuned L-Acoustics rig, I understood what I'd been missing. The deeper I went, the more blown away I was. L-Acoustics does not just sell you a speaker, they train you. They give you optimized presets for every system they make. Their simulation software lets you model exactly how your PA will cover a room before you set a single speaker. And when you follow basically their process, your results are consistent show after show. That kind of certainty is something most engineers in Africa have never had access to. So who is this company? Why does it matter? The story begins in 1977. A young French physicist physicists sat in the audience at a Pink Floyd concert, one of the biggest rock bands to ever come out of Europe, the British band whose live shows shaped what an entire generation believed a concert could even be. His name was Christian Hell. He was finishing his PhD in particle physics, the field of science that studies the smallest building blocks of the universe, and what he heard that night lit something inside him. That spent— that he's basically spent the rest of his life pursuing. In 1984, he founded L-Acoustics from the backyard of a farm just south of Paris. In 1992, the team presented wavefront sculpture technology at the Audio Engineering Society convention and released the V-DOSK, the world's first modern line array system. Nearly every line array on every major stage in the world today builds on the principles he helped that year. That is why he is widely called the father of, of the modern line array. Here's the part you need to basically sit with. When international artists basically sign a tour, their team writes a document called a technical rider, a list of every piece of equipment that the artist requires to perform at their, at their own standard. L-Acoustics is the most requested speaker brand on those riders, more than any other brand in the world. That is not marketing, that is decades of consistent performance. Show after show, stadium after stadium, in every climate and every kind of room. The people who cannot afford to be wrong about sound have made their decision. The first time I worked on an international event as part of the Gears Audio team, everything came together. It just feels different when you have an efficient system with enough cabinets to cover your audience properly. You stop fighting the room, you stop compromising, you start delivering sound at the standard the world expects from a tour. And I remember thinking, this is what every event in Africa deserves to sound like. There will come a day when you have the opportunity to invest in a system or to advise on one. When that day comes, make the choice deliberately. When you buy into L-Acoustics, you're not just buying speakers, You are walking through a door, on the other side is a global network of certified partners in more than 80 countries sharing a single standard, trained in the same way, capable of cross-renting gear with each other anywhere in the world. You, you basically stop being someone who owns equipment, you become part of an industry. You are only considered a professional when you use professional tools. Know the name, know the story, know what door you're walking through. I'm Remember. Thanks for watching.
